Najatee’ McNeil

is a Black American illustrator and comic artist from Baltimore, Maryland.

They earned a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience while at Brown University and recently graduated from The Academy of Art University with an MFA in Illustration with a focus on comics.

They create anime/manga-inspired illustrations that explore the tribulations of mental health and what it means to be human.

Najatee’ uses their experiences as a Black, female-perceived, neurodivergent person to connect with readers and viewers of their art to tell stories that provide both escape and realism. They intend to use their upcoming comic Spell Bound to open up the conversation around mental health and the many factors that can affect it. Najatee’ also hopes to achieve a positive portrayal of a protagonist with Dissociative Identity Disorder to work towards breaking the stereotype around personality disorders such as DID.
